📍 Floor: E4 – Heart Tower
🛏️ Beds: 40 (Cardiac Stepdown)

👩‍⚕️ Patient Population

• Post-op cardiac & vascular surgeries:
  • CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Bentall
  • AAA repairs (open & endovascular)
  • Fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy
• Thoracic surgeries:
  • Lobectomy, thoracotomy
• Additional cases:
  • Heart failure, chest pain, sepsis, DKA, heart block

👥 Staffing & Ratios

• Total staff: ~100
• Day Shift:
  • 1 Charge RN (usually out of staffing)
  • 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, ~1 HUC
• Night Shift:
  • 1 Charge RN
  • 13 RNs, 4 PCTs

📊 Ratios:

• RN: 1:5
• PCT: 1:13

🛠️ Equipment & Systems

• Baxter IV pumps
• CADD epidural pumps
• Patient lifts
• EMR: Cerner

🎯 Candidate Requirements

✅ Must Have

• Stepdown experience
• Telemetry experience

⭐ Preferred

• Recent CV surgery / vascular experience
• CVICU background

🏥 Common Skills & Procedures

• Chest tube management
• Epidural management
• Tube feeding
• IV Glucommander
• Cardiac drips:
  • Amiodarone, Dopamine, Dobutamine
  • Milrinone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin
  • Insulin, Heparin, Phenylephrine

📜 Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

🔄 Floating

• Stepdown units (1:5 ratio)
• Med-Surg units (1:6–7 ratio)
• ER inpatient holding (1:6)

👕 Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs OR
• White top with navy bottoms OR
• All white

📅 Scheduling Expectations

• ❌ No on-call
• ✔️ 6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks
• ✔️ Must be flexible for holidays
