Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical/Telemetry
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Nights, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Monday through Friday
- Weekend rotation and holidays as needed
Job Requirements
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing (EKG/Medication) required before start and annually, with acknowledgement of pass/fail testing policies
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgement
Testing & Competencies
- Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing (EKG/Medication) required before start and annually
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Telemetry test must meet facility standards (80% overall, 100% lethal rhythms subcategory)
- Remediation and retesting allowed with strict guidelines; failure after 3 attempts results in contract cancellation
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multi-location search for past 7 years
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening required within 90 days of start
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines
- Various state and facility-specific compliance documents required (e.g., BID form, caregiver screening)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (per agency standard)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Immunizations or documented immunity for:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination form)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of one adult Tdap required)
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination (if applicable)
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge required (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
- Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments must be completed prior to start
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years required (agency standard)
- Employment application and annual skills checklist required
This position is ideal for experienced acute care RNs with telemetry skills and Epic experience, seeking a travel contract in Wisconsin with a reputable healthcare facility.
