Description
Position Description: **This need would be for both in the department and mobile.**
If the nuclear medicine technologist has their nuclear medicine technologist certification they are covered for PET/CT attenuation correction. No limited license is necessary. This would be for attenuation and not diagnostic.
Department: 1007307 Nuclear Medicine
Perform quality diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures under supervision to ensure accurate and appropriate imaging information for use in diagnosis and treatment. Participate in teaching and research relating to nuclear medicine in support of the organizational mission. Utilize departmental resources (e.g., personnel, supplies, and capital equipment) to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic and therapeutic exams in the nuclear medicine section at the lowest possible risk and cost to the patient. Demonstrate knowledge and skill in addressing age-specific needs of the patients served.
Required Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited nuclear medicine program required.
Knowledge of computers that are interfaced with the gamma cameras required.
Knowledge of radioactive materials, doses and flood sources required.
Experience with patient monitoring and other ancillary patient and radiation safety equipment required.
Ability to work with radioactive material in a safe manner required.
Current certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and/or The American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire or transfer date required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior clinical experience preferred.
Ability to effectively handle patients and families in all age groups preferred.
Good communication/personal skills preferred.
Knowledge of nuclear medicine gamma cameras, stationary and portable from varying manufacturers preferred.
Per Nebraska Medicine:
There is no licensure for Nuc. Med. Techs in Nebraska, however, there are education and training requirements, (basically spelled out by NRC). To ensure that these are met, Nebraska Medicine requires Nuc. Med. Techs to be certified by a national organization (ARRT or NMTCB)
