Description
Traditional K12 building based. The American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter will provide interpretation and transliteration services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with the policies and procedures of the assigned school district. This role includes supporting the communication needs of students in academic settings, participating in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and working closely with teachers and staff to ensure access to the curriculum and a positive learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate s or Bachelor s degree preferred).Current certification in American Sign Language interpretation, such as RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) or state equivalent. Demonstrates proficiency in American Sign Language and knowledge of Deaf culture. Experience working with students or individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Ability to interpret and transliterate spoken English into ASL and ASL into spoken English accurately. Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, administrators, and parents. Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role. Document and report on student progress as needed in accordance with district and IEP guidelines. Manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks to provide the best support for students. Perform other duties as assigned.
