Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Must be aware of and pass a medication exam at orientation (one attempt only; failure results in contract cancellation). Study materials provided.

  • Must have scrub experience to be considered.

  • Able to circulate and scrub in multiple specialty areas including:

    • Transplant (Liver and Kidney)
    • Endovascular and vascular emergencies
    • Neuro, Trauma, MVA, Gunshot, and stabbings
    • Circulate hearts
    • General surgery
    • Pediatrics
    • Microbiology
  • Call rotation: 1 night every third weekend


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Massachusetts
  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
  • Experience in Transplant, Trauma, Neurology, Pediatrics, Vascular Surgery, and Endoscopy
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Ability to circulate and scrub in Endoscopy, Neurology, Microbiology, and transplant surgeries
  • Ability to circulate in hearts
  • Scrub experience required
  • Must pass a medication competency exam at orientation (minimum 80% score required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specialty area (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
  • Must meet all state and facility-specific background checks and verifications

  • References: 2 within last 3 years
  • Employment history covering last 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for a rigorous orientation including pass/fail testing.
  • Call schedule requires availability for night shifts every third weekend.
  • Facility-specific declinations for vaccines may not be accepted in certain patient populations (e.g., Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU).

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong scrub skills and flexibility to work across multiple surgical specialties in a fast-paced environment.
