Location:  Dallas, Texas

Address: 7777 Forest Lane, Dallas, Texas 75230

Unit: NICU

Building: Bldg A, North Tower 4th Floor

 

General Information

Unit Specifics:

·       Number of Beds : 108

·       Patient Ratios : 1:1 – 1:4

·       Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability) : Staffed with RNs, LVNs, PCTs, and Nurse Externs

·       Type of equipment : Nasal Cannula, Bubble CPAP, Vents, Oscillators, IV pumps, NIRS, Warmers, Isolettes,

·       Documentation system: CPN, Meditech

·       Scheduling requirements: 3-12 hr shifts/week, rotating weekends, holidays

·       Floating policy: Contract staff float before staff. Areas include: PICU, Pediatrics, CICU. Care for patients <2yrs

·       Patient Experience requirements: Minimum 1 year level III experience

Hospital Specifics-

·       Certifications: NRP, BLS

Hiring profile

Requested Skill Set:  surgical patients, cardiac patients, experience with pts <27 weeks, care of trach infants, experience with broviacs

 

Must have: Experience with preemies (at least 28 week and above), mgmt. of central lines, respiratory mgmt. up to and including intubated patients,

 

Advanced skills needed:

 

 

Procedures performed on unit: Central line insertions, circumcisions, exploratory laps, gastroschisis reductions, PDA ligations

 

Certifications Required: BLS, NRP

 

 

Dress Code: (Required uniform)

·        Royal blue scrubs

Pros

Traveler-friendly and nurse-to-patient ratio is fair (only once I was Quaded but had a lot of help from Nurse Extern & Resource RN).

Cons

Move closer to the facility; traffic in the city is horrible, and the express toll costs can vary from day to day.
