RN Labor and Deliver-Charge 

MUST HAVE CHARGE EXPERIENCE 

Hospital:  Tristar Horizon Medical Center

Location:  Dickson, TN

Unit Name: Women’s Services

Unit Specifics:

·         Number of Beds : LDRP 9 beds, OBED 1 bed, NICU 4 beds, 1 OR suite

·         Patient Ratios : 1:1 active labors, inductions, C-sections, couplet care 1:3,  newborns 1:1 until stable, NICU 1:3 intermediate care, but 2 NICU nurses must be in the unit if there are

·         Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability) : no techs or unit secretaries

·         Type of equipment: CPN Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, PCA pumps

·         Documentation system: Meditech and CPN

·         Scheduling requirements: FT 3 shifts per wk., rotating weekend and holidays, PRN’s to complete

·         Floating policy: regular staff, if scheduled and not needed on the unit, are expected to float anywhere within the facility as needed, some staff are cross trained to float between LDRP & NICU

·         Patient Experience requirements: daily rounding on all patients, SAFETY rounding

Hiring profile

Requested Skill Set:

Must have: Labor and delivery experience including the ability to labor and recover the mother as well as receive and transition the newborn including assessment.  Experience with shoulder dystocia, PP hemorrhage, and other potential OB emergencies preferred. Active RN license. 

Advanced skills needed: Fetal monitoring education, experience with inductions (Pitocin, cervidil)

Procedures performed on unit:  C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, vacuum or forceps assisted deliveries

Certifications Required: BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring training
