Travel Director of Nursing (DON) – Helena, MT
Start Date: 4/20 or sooner
Assignment Length: 6 Weeks
Gross Pay: $3,006/week (based on 40 hours)
Shift: Variable | Will assist on the floor when short‑staffed
Position Overview
A high‑paced, resident‑focused LTC/SNF facility in Helena, MT is seeking an experienced Travel Director of Nursing to lead its nursing department. This role requires a hands‑on leader who is comfortable stepping in on the floor when needed, supporting staff, and ensuring consistent delivery of high‑quality care. Ideal for a DON who thrives in a fast‑moving environment and can balance administrative oversight with clinical support.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of DON experience in LTC/SNF
- Active MT RN license or compact license
- Current BLS
- Clean Nursys report required
- Strong leadership, communication, and regulatory compliance skills
- Ability to work in a high‑paced, dynamic LTC/SNF setting
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily nursing operations and ensure high‑quality resident care
- Step in on the floor to support staff during short‑staffed shifts
- Lead, mentor, and develop nursing staff across all shifts
- Maintain compliance with state and federal LTC regulations
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and workflow coordination
- Support survey readiness and quality improvement initiatives
- Foster a positive, resident‑centered culture throughout the facility
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
