Position Description

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) to assume responsibility and accountability for providing comprehensive respiratory and pulmonary therapy services in an acute‑care clinical setting. The Respiratory Therapist delivers patient‑centered care under the direction of a physician and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with cardiopulmonary and respiratory conditions.

The Respiratory Therapist evaluates patients across the lifespan—from neonates to geriatrics—by assessing respiratory status, identifying signs and symptoms of pulmonary compromise, and implementing appropriate therapeutic interventions. This role includes administering respiratory treatments, managing ventilators and respiratory equipment, performing diagnostic testing as indicated, and educating patients and families on respiratory conditions and treatment plans.

The Respiratory Therapist exercises sound clinical judgment while adhering to established clinical protocols, professional standards of practice, patient safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Consistent performance according to facility policies, ethical standards, and evidence‑based practice supports optimal patient outcomes in a fast‑paced acute‑care environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Active Respiratory Therapist license or certification for the state of practice (Maryland or eligible)
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent respiratory therapy experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Ability to provide care to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient populations
• Participation in and completion of Amergis’ competency program when applicable
• Current TB screening (TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X‑ray), per contract or facility requirements
• Ability to meet all federal, state, and local compliance requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
• Computer proficiency required
• Must be at least 18 years of age
