CHARGE Registered Nurse (RN) – Direct Hire | Nebraska
Full‑Time • Hospital‑Based • Multiple Units • Shift Rotation Required
Overview
This full‑time Registered Nurse role offers the opportunity to practice across multiple hospital units while serving as the supervising nurse on shift. The RN is responsible for coordinating patient care, assigning duties to nursing staff, and delivering hands‑on clinical care in accordance with physician orders and hospital policy. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead a team in a fast‑paced environment.
New graduates are welcome to apply. No experience is required beyond completion of an accredited nursing program.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Duties
- Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in support of medical staff.
- Administer prescribed medications orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, and intravenously.
- Monitor and document patient responses to medications, treatments, and interventions.
- Observe and manage parenteral infusions, including troubleshooting and reporting concerns.
- Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and incision care as ordered.
- Assist with insertion of subclavian catheters and supervise ongoing care and maintenance.
- Conduct patient assessments on admission (ER, acute, skilled) and every shift thereafter.
- Provide respiratory therapy as ordered by the physician.
- Perform lab draws and EKGs when needed.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of all nursing care, medications, and observations.
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise nursing staff during assigned shift, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
- Assign patients and duties to LPNs and nursing assistants based on acuity and skill level.
- Oversee and evaluate patient care activities performed by non‑licensed personnel.
- Support team communication and maintain a collaborative, patient‑centered environment.
- Address staff or patient‑family concerns when appropriate and escalate when necessary.
- Keep the Director of Nursing Services informed of staffing issues, census changes, or areas of concern.
- Participate in peer evaluations and contribute to staff development.
Coordination & Workflow Management
- Coordinate patient care activities such as imaging, lab work, and diagnostic procedures.
- Enter physician orders in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensure continuity of care by communicating effectively with providers, staff, and ancillary departments.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for patients and staff.
- Restock supplies, check expiration dates, and maintain readiness of equipment.
- Follow infection control guidelines and hospital safety protocols at all times.
Professional Standards & Compliance
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
- Attend required in‑services, staff meetings, and continuing education sessions.
- Follow chain of command and support organizational communication pathways.
- Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, hygiene, and conduct.
Schedule & Work Expectations
- Weekend work required.
- May rotate between day, evening, and night shifts depending on staffing needs.
- May be called in during emergencies or high‑census periods.
- Must be comfortable working in any unit of the hospital as assigned.
Patient Population
- Patient population varies by unit assignment.
- RN must be prepared to care for patients across acute, skilled, and emergency settings.
Unit / Facility Details
- Hospital‑based role with assignment to any unit depending on staffing and patient needs.
- Requires flexibility, adaptability, and strong generalist nursing skills.
Required Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Required Licensure & Certifications
- Current Nebraska RN license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start).
- ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required within one year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Local candidates preferred for ease of onsite interviewing.
- Strong communication, leadership, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting a team‑based care model.
- Comfort working across multiple units and patient populations.
Additional Information
- Must wear a clean, neat, appropriate uniform and maintain excellent personal hygiene.
- Minimal perfume or fragrance due to patient sensitivity.
