Description
Registered Nurse – Case Management
Location: Puyallup, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 10-hour day shifts, 4 days on, 10 hours each (4/10s)
- Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
- No on-call duties
- Holiday work: Required to work at least 1 holiday, with option for more
- Schedule: Typically five 8-hour shifts per week; maximum of 6 consecutive shifts
- Schedule created by manager and provided a few weeks in advance
- No floating to other units
- Dress code: Business casual (no scrubs)
- Free parking available (lot or garage)
- Breaks are required
- Overtime must be requested and is subject to approval; opportunity to pick up extra shifts at other facilities
Patient Population & Setting
- Inpatient adult patients only (no pediatrics)
- Patient types include ICU, PCU, MedSurg, and ER
- Does not care for Labor & Delivery or NICU patients
- Patient ratio approximately 1:15-20
Required Qualifications
- Washington State RN license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Minimum 4 years overall nursing experience
- Minimum 2 years recent acute inpatient case management experience
- Prior travel experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
- EPIC electronic medical record experience required
Skills & Experience
- Acute care case management expertise is essential
- Knowledge of healthcare financial and reimbursement processes
- Experience with post-discharge planning and community resource coordination
- Preferred experience in Emergency Room and Utilization Review
Orientation & Support
- Orientation lasts approximately 1-3 days
- Must be prepared to manage patient interventions from day one, paired with another case manager RN
- Support available from leadership, peers, and case management assistants
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccination required
- Must complete various documentation and compliance items including flu documentation, annual competencies, background checks, immunizations, certifications, and drug screening
This position is ideal for experienced inpatient case management RNs with strong acute care skills and prior travel contract experience, seeking a structured schedule with supportive leadership in a Level III Trauma Center environment.
