Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours/week (3 shifts per week)
 

Job Overview

OU Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality nursing care in the Ortho-Trauma Unit. This role involves caring for patients with a range of health conditions, from simple to complex, including orthopedic injuries, trauma cases, and medical-surgical conditions.

The RN will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety, monitor clinical status, and implement appropriate interventions while maintaining compassionate, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients in the Ortho-Trauma Unit.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed treatments; note all changes in physician orders.
• Assist physicians with examinations, minor procedures, and treatments.
• Monitor and assess physiological data; recognize changes in patient status and intervene as necessary.
• Administer medications, initiate and regulate IV infusions, and manage blood products.
• Communicate care plans with patients and families; provide education and discharge instructions.
• Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
• Delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience
• Experience in medicine specialty, orthopedic, or trauma care preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

• Required:
  • Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association

• Ability to respond to cultural and language needs of patients and families
• Basic computer proficiency
