Location: OU Medical Center, 700 NE 13th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73104
Duration: 13 Weeks, with potential for extension
Shift: Days/Nights
Schedule: 36 hours/week (3x12s)
Employment Type: Travel / Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Specialty Step Down Unit. This role is ideal for nurses experienced in caring for patients who require a higher level of monitoring than Med-Surg but do not require full ICU care. You’ll work with a diverse patient population ranging from moderate to high acuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to an assigned group of step-down patients
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including continuous observation of vital signs and clinical status
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products as prescribed
• Assist physicians with exams, procedures, and treatments
• Document patient progress, responses to interventions, and updates in care plans
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Medical-Surgical / Step Down experience required
• Active RN license (Oklahoma or Compact State - eNLC)
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

• ICU experience strongly preferred
• Strong critical thinking and patient management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
