Basic Requirements
- Minimum Experience: 2 years
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- Flu Vaccine: Required: Medical/Religious exemptions only
- Preferred Certification:
- NIH Stroke Scale
Unit Overview
- Specialty: Telemetry Unit
- Unit Size: 36 rooms
- Average Daily Census: 35
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4–5
Required Clinical Experience & Skills
- Management of CHF
- MI / Chest Pain (pre- and post-cardiac catheterization)
- Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants)
- Blood pressure management (hypotension/hypertension)
- Pleural effusion
- Sepsis
- PE/DVT and other vascular conditions
Systems & Equipment
- EMR: Epic (Required)
- Medication System: Pyxis
- Communication Tool: SBAR
Scheduling & Policies
- Weekends: Every other weekend (unless otherwise specified)
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice
- On-Call: Not required
- RTO: Maximum 7 days
- RTO Blackout Dates: April 4th – April 12th (Spring Break)
Holiday Requirements
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment → required to work 1
- If 2 major holidays → required to work both
- If 3 major holidays → required to work 2
Major Holidays Include:
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day
