Description
Pathologist Assistant (PA) – Day Shift | No Weekends | No Call
We are seeking a certified Pathologist Assistant to join a high-volume Anatomic Pathology/Histology lab. This is a day shift opportunity with no weekends or on-call requirements.
Shift Details:
- 5x8-hour shifts
- 08:30 AM – 5:00 PM (main hospital)
- 09:30 AM – 6:00 PM (if covering nearby reference lab, ~15 mins away)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens
- Dictate detailed macroscopic descriptions
- Prepare and submit tissue for histological processing
- Assist with frozen sections as needed
- Ensure accurate specimen receipt, labeling, and documentation
- Review patient clinical information (labs, imaging, history)
- Support image capture and analysis (gross/microscopic)
Work Environment:
- High-volume lab processing ~600–700 blocks daily
- Exposure to complex surgical cases, biopsies, and outreach specimens
- Occasional float between main hospital and reference lab
Requirements:
- PA(ASCP) certification (required)
- Bachelor’s degree or completion of an accredited Pathologist Assistant program
- Minimum 1 year of experience (first-time travelers welcome)
- EPIC experience preferred
Additional Details:
- No weekends or on-call requirements
- Up to 5 days RTO allowed (must be submitted upfront)
- Michigan license required by start date (compact not accepted)
- Pre-employment modules required (non-billable)
