Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized respiratory care to patients across various settings, including hospital, ICU, emergency, pediatrics, geriatrics, and outpatient clinics. This role involves assessing patient needs, managing ventilators, administering medications, and supporting critical care functions. The Respiratory Therapist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring patient safety and optimal respiratory health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments focusing on respiratory function, vital signs, and overall physiology.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and airway management procedures.
- Manage ventilator settings for patients requiring mechanical ventilation in ICU or acute care settings.
- Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust therapy plans accordingly.
- Assist in airway management during emergencies and surgical procedures such as those in the OR.
- Conduct patient education on respiratory conditions and therapy adherence.
- Document all interventions accurately within electronic health records.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Maintain proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, pulmonology principles, and critical care protocols.
- Ensure adherence to infection control standards and hospital policies across inpatient, outpatient, trauma centers (Level I & II), and clinic environments.
Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license or certification recognized by relevant health authorities.
- Proven experience in hospital medicine with exposure to emergency medicine, ICU (including PICU), trauma centers (Level I & II), and outpatient clinics preferred.
- Strong knowledge of airway management techniques, ventilator operation, medication administration, and physiology fundamentals.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, acute care procedures, and inpatient/outpatient settings.
- Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments requiring quick decision-making and critical thinking skills. This role offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to patient recovery and well-being through expert respiratory care in a dynamic healthcare setting.
