Position Summary
 

We are seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week long-term assignment at 7 West Med/Surg Unit, Summa Akron Campus. The ideal candidate must be confident in acute Med/Surg bedside care, floating between units, Epic documentation, and phlebotomy, with recent hands-on experience in a fast-paced hospital setting.

This is a night-shift assignment requiring every other weekend availability, strong clinical adaptability, and strict compliance with facility scheduling policies.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and effective nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and care planning
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Document all care accurately in Epic EMR
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection
• Monitor patient progress and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams
• Float to similar units as required by census needs
• Maintain compliance with unit-specific policies and hospital protocols
• Support discharge planning and patient education
• Work every other weekend as required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN License (verified through Nursys)
• BLS Certification required
• Accredited nursing degree through ACEN or CCNE
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience
• Recent Epic EMR experience within the last 12 months
• Recent phlebotomy experience within the last 12 months
• Previous float experience required
• Strong acute care hospital background
• Must be available for night shifts and alternating weekends
