Registered Nurse – Case Management
Location
- Tacoma, Washington
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Case Management
- Minimum 4 years overall nursing experience
- Minimum 2 years recent acute inpatient case management experience
- First-time travelers not accepted
Patient Population
- Adult inpatients only (no pediatrics)
- Patient units include ICU, PCU, MedSurg, and ER
- No care for Labor & Delivery or NICU patients
- Candidates with predominantly pediatric hospital experience are not a good fit
Licensure & Certifications
- Washington State RN license required
- BSN degree required
- BLS certification not required
Skills & Knowledge
- Acute care case management experience is mandatory
- Knowledge of healthcare financial and reimbursement processes
- Experience with post-discharge planning and community resource coordination
- Preferred experience in ER and Utilization Review
- EPIC electronic medical record system experience required
Work Environment & Support
- Supported by leadership, peers, and case management assistants
- EMR system: EPIC
Floating
- May float between multiple nearby facilities (within ~2.5 miles)
- Floating assignments communicated at start of shift; mid-shift floating only in emergencies
- Traveler is first to float if needed
Orientation
- Approximately 1-3 days
- Expected to begin patient care interventions on day one, paired with another case manager RN
Schedule & Hours
- 40 hours per week, typically five 8-hour day shifts
- Maximum of 6 consecutive shifts scheduled
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- Required to work at least one holiday; additional holiday shifts optional
- No on-call duties
- Schedule created by manager and provided several weeks in advance
- Requests for time off must be approved by manager and submitted upfront
Additional Information
- Dress code: Business casual (no scrubs)

- Overtime must be requested and is subject to approval
- Opportunity to pick up extra shifts at other facilities within the system

- Flu documentation for 2025-26 season
- Annual core competencies
- COVID-19 requirements
- Background checks and drug screening
- Immunizations and titers (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, TDAP)
- License and certification verification
- HIPAA and confidentiality training
- Physical and PPD testing
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 2 years of case management experience, including acute hospital case management
- Case management experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Experience with discharge planning and insurance processes
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
