Position Details
Location: Cut Bank, Montana
Position Type: Travel Contract Job
Schedule: 5x8s, primarily Monday–Friday (flexible scheduling options available)
Shift: 8-hour variable shifts, typically 0800–1700
Hours: 40 per week
Contract Length: 3–4 weeks with potential extension

Facility Overview
Critical Access Hospital with 20 beds
Level 5 trauma designation
Non-teaching facility
Average Census: 1.2 inpatient / 9 ER patients per day

What You’ll Do
• Oversee nursing operations across inpatient and emergency services
• Serve as a hands-on leader, assisting on the floor and in the ER when needed
• Support staff during codes, including medication preparation when necessary
• Ensure compliance with EMTALA and state/federal regulations
• Participate in budgeting, case management, and operational planning
• Collaborate with providers, midlevels, and interdisciplinary teams
• Manage staffing, scheduling oversight, and team development
• Navigate union environments and foster a positive team culture

Work Environment
• Nurses rotate between inpatient and ER responsibilities
• Staffing includes 2 RNs per shift plus a mid-shift nurse for coverage
• CNAs assist with patient care, registration, and unit coordination
• No respiratory therapist on site – nursing team supports respiratory care
• Hospitalist coverage available 24/7 with additional ER support staff
• Pharmacy support includes remote pharmacist and onsite pharmacy tech

Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
Monitors: Mindray

Requirements
• BSN required (or higher)
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in acute care (Manager, Director, or DON level)
• Active RN license (state or compact)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS required
• Preferred: TNCC and STABLE
