Registered Nurse - Cardiac Observation Unit

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Provide high-level nursing care for patients in the Cardiac Observation Unit (COU), focusing on Cath Lab patients pre- and post-procedure. Responsibilities include:

Evaluating assigned patients and planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care
Assisting physicians during examinations and procedures
Performing patient tests and administering medications within RN scope of practice
Preparing patients for Cath procedures, Cardioversions (CV), and Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE)
Recovering patients following Cath procedures involving conscious sedation
Sedating, circulating, and documenting bedside procedures (CV & TEE)
Discharging patients with teaching, documentation, and physical discharge

The unit cares for high-risk, high-acuity patients and performs bedside procedures such as TEE and Cardioversions.

Shift Information

Varies: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (Day shifts between 6:00 AM and 8:30 PM)
Call requirements include Saturdays and Sundays on a rotational basis, approximately once every 4 to 6 weeks
Weekend call hours: Saturday 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, Sunday 7:00 AM–2:00 PM

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse license in Arizona
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of Electrophysiology Lab experience, including experience within the last year
Cardiac Cath Lab experience
Telemetry experience
ACLS certification
BLS certification
