RN – Neonatal ICU (NICU) | Night Shift
📍 Carolinas Medical Center (Levine Children’s Hospital)
Assignment Overview
- Position: Registered Nurse – NICU
- Schedule: 36 Hours/Week (3x12s)
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

- Trauma Level: Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
- Certifications: Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center
Unit Information
- Unit: NICU (Level III/IV)
- Beds: 53 + overflow
- Average Census: ~58 patients
Patient Population
- Respiratory: RDS, TTN, MAS, BPD
- Cardiac: CHD (TOF, VSD, HLHS), PDA, PPHN
- Neurological: Seizures, IVH, HIE
- Other: NEC, sepsis, NAS, congenital anomalies, hypoglycemia, renal failure
Ratios
- RN Ratio (based on acuity):
- 1:1

Requirements
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years Level III/IV NICU experience (Required)
- Must be comfortable in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
- Certifications:
- BLS
- NRP
- Radius Rule:
- Must live 50+ miles from facility
Skills Required
- EPIC experience
- Ventilator & HFOV management
- Vasoactive drips & invasive lines (ART/CVP)
- ECMO (baby side preferred)
- CRRT (preferred)
- Feeding tubes, chest tubes, Foley care
- Sedation & analgesia management
- Sterile/aseptic techniques
- Bedside procedures support
Technology & Equipment
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pumps: Alaris & Medfusion
- Medication System: Omnicell
- Monitoring: Philips
- Equipment: PIV Ultrasound, Tecotherm
- Breast Milk System: MOMs
Scheduling & Requirements
- Weekend Requirement:
- 2 Fridays + 2 Mondays + Every other weekend (Sat/Sun) per 6-week cycle
- On-Call: None
- Holidays: Required (including holiday eves/after days)
- Floating:
- Neonatal PCU, PICU, CVICU, General Peds (as needed)
- Schedule Cycle: Every 6 weeks
- RTO: Manager approval (limited preferred)

- Scrubs: Navy (pediatric-friendly tops allowed)
- Dress Code: “Bare Below Elbows” (no jewelry, no artificial nails)
- Parking: Free
