Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED) | Crisis Contract
Location: Burlington, WI

Schedule: 36 hours/week | 12-hour Night Shifts (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
Position Overview
Advocate Health is seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a crisis contract assignment at Aurora Medical Center Burlington. This is a fast-paced Emergency Department requiring strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and prior travel experience.

- 123-bed hospital
- Trauma Level III
- Primary Stroke Center
- No NICU
- Free parking available
Unit Details
- 14-bed Emergency Department
- Patient population: Neonates to geriatrics (low pediatric volume ~1%)
- Common cases: Chest pain, abdominal pain, stroke, neurological emergencies, trauma, STEMI, behavioral health
- Air transport for AMI patients
- ~2 psych patients/week
Staffing & Ratios
- Nurse-to-patient ratio:
- Days: 1:4
- Nights: 1:5
- Tech ratio: 1:10
- Charge nurse carries patient load
Responsibilities
- Perform triage and rapid patient assessment
- Assist with intubation, RSI, and procedural sedation
- Manage trauma activations and stroke alerts
- Administer blood products, including mass transfusion protocols
- Provide cardiac emergency care (STEMI, etc.)
- Utilize critical thinking in high-acuity situations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience
- Travel experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
- Active RN license
Required Certifications
- ACLS
- PALS
- BLS
- TNCC
- NIHSS
Technology & Equipment
- Epic (preferred)
- Alaris IV pumps
- Pyxis medication system
