Description
Required Education:
-Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).
Required Certification & Licensure:
-Registered Nurse; licensed in New York State.
-Case Manager Certification (CCM).
-Basic Life Support (BLS).
Job Responsibilities:
-Supervises and monitors Case Management activities.
-Conducts and coordinates Case Management Nurse’s orientation and training.
-Develops Case Management Department policies and procedures.
-Collaborate with other hospital departments.
-Identifies, documents, and trends utilization issues; creates and facilitates implementation of solutions with appropriate staff/departments.
-Serves as resource person to Case Management staff and other hospital personnel.
-Represent the Director at meetings and in the Director’s absence.
-Identifies problems by taking appropriate measures to ensure resolution.
-Interprets and assures compliance with regulatory bodies.
-Conducts other duties as requested by management to ensure efficient department and hospital operations.
-Performs other related duties assigned by supervisor. In an emergency, other duties are performed necessary for the welfare of patients or the efficient operations of the institution.
-Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
-Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience in direct patient care.
-Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience in quality assessment or utilization management.
-Critical thinking, math, and computer skills.
-Works as a team player.
-Demonstrates respect and professionalism in all interactions.
-Excellent oral and communication skills.
-Decision making and problem solving.
-Able to read, write, see and hear English.
-Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
