Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Carmel, Indiana
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
- Shift: Night shift, options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
- Hours per Week: 36 to 48 hours depending on shift pattern
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Unit: 14-bed ICU with open heart program, neurosurgery, stroke unit, Level 2 trauma, ECMO stabilization and transport, STEMI, manual proning, sepsis management, IABP, CRRT, UST and RRT teams
- Charting System: Cerner
- Parking: Free
- Dress Code: Red scrub tops, black bottoms
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification and official transcript or diploma
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Unit competency exam
- Color blindness testing (Ishihara or equivalent, 100% score required)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Immunizations and titers:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Strongly recommended but not required
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-SPOT) within 1 year, with chest x-ray if positive history
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles, verified within 2 years
- Current employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Completion of facility-specific orientation packets and compliance checklists prior to start
Additional Notes
- Must be willing to work the required shifts and holiday schedule
- Facility does not accept Indiana RN travelers after 11/30/24 except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (Periop includes Endoscopy, IR, PACU, Cath Lab, SDS)
- Guaranteed hours vary by shift pattern:
- 3x12 shifts = 36 hours/week
- 4x12 shifts = 48 hours/week
- 8 or 10 hour shifts = 40 hours/week (if applicable)
This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity ICU setting with advanced cardiac and neurological care services. Candidates must meet strict licensure, certification, and compliance requirements prior to start.
