Position Title: CT Technologist

 

Position Summary:

 

The CT Technologist performs computerized tomography (CT) scans as ordered by a physician. This role produces high-quality cross‑sectional images that provide detailed visualization of soft tissues, blood vessels, and bones to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. The CT Technologist is responsible for patient safety, image quality, and adherence to professional and regulatory standards.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform CT scans in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and radiation safety standards
  • Operate CT scanners and related equipment; adjust technical parameters as needed
  • Properly position patients using immobilization and protective equipment
  • Obtain and document patient history; explain procedures and address patient questions or concerns
  • Monitor patients throughout procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Assist radiologists with CT imaging procedures, including interventional studies as applicable
  • Initiate IV access and administer contrast media (oral and/or IV) when required
  • Operate power injectors for contrast administration
  • Evaluate images for technical quality; process, label, and organize images correctly
  • Maintain accurate patient records and charge procedures and supplies appropriately
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and all applicable policies and procedures
  • Perform clerical or scheduling duties as needed
  • Adhere to all employer policies, safety standards, and professional practice guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a CT Technologist preferred
  • Current Rhode Island (RI) Diagnostic Imaging license required
  • ARRT certification required: RT(R)(CT)
  • Current BLS certification required
  • ACLS not required

Work Environment

  • Hospital and/or clinical imaging setting
  • May include emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and trauma imaging
  • Works with adult and pediatric patient populations
  • Ability to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as assigned
