Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry (Days)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide care for all types of medical-surgical patients, including overflow post-op surgical hips/knees and occasional psychiatric patients.
• Patient ratios typically 4-5:1.
• Unit size: 24 beds.
• Care includes managing heparin drips.
• Telemetry monitoring is remote.
• Required to float across multiple campuses within the local area.
• Scrubs color: Navy blue solids.
• Work 36-40 hours per week; overtime applies after 40 hours.
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
• No blocked shifts or 48-hour shifts.
• Orientation is scheduled and mandatory (next date: 5/26).
• Department prefers candidates willing to extend beyond the initial 13-week contract.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Medical-Surgical or Medical-Surgical Telemetry nursing, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records system

• First-time travel nurses are accepted; prior travel experience is not required.
