Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (option for 26 weeks available)
Shift: Day shift, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Block schedule, Monday to Friday)
Hours: 40 hours per week, 10 hours per day


Job Description

  • Work in an outpatient clinic setting specializing in Radiology and Cardiology / Nuclear Medicine.
  • Typical caseload: 6-8 cases per day.
  • Experience with adult outpatient clinics and nuclear cardiology procedures including:
    • GE imaging
    • Gastric emptying studies
    • Bone scans
    • Liver imaging
    • Perfusion and ventilation scans
    • Captopril studies
    • Myocardial scans
    • SPECT imaging (Bone, Thyroid, Cardiac)
  • Charting system used: EPIC.
  • Scrub color: Any color allowed.
  • No weekends or on-call required.
  • Locals and first-time travelers accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in New Jersey.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, with experience within the last year.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification.
  • NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) certification.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Experience working with adult patients.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history.
  • Two professional references within the last 2 years (one managerial).
  • Background check within 30 days of start, including criminal, MVR/DMV, and federal/state exclusions.
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test).
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months, confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol.
  • Immunization or immunity documentation for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer required)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required.
  • Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start.
  • Completion of facility-specific annual education and safety training (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
  • Completion of competency exams including medication/pharmacology and any required technical competencies.

Additional Requirements & Certifications (as applicable)

  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, or other specialty certifications are not required for this position unless specified by the facility or unit.
  • IV Certification required for RNs only (not applicable here).
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication competency may be required if applicable.
  • Color vision testing required only if job tasks involve color discrimination.

Scheduling & Work Environment

  • Block scheduling permitted, Monday through Friday.
  • No weekend or on-call shifts.
  • Outpatient clinic environment.
  • Use of EPIC electronic health record system.
