Description
Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lubbock, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Float between units: Yes
- On-call: No
- Weekend shifts: 6 weekend shifts required in a 6-week period
- Block schedules: No
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5

- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

- Dress code for licensed nursing personnel: solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except in specific pediatric and women’s services units)

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience
- Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Experience & References
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty or setting
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates
- Work history verification may be required if reference requirements are not met
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation
- Fit mask test (respirator clearance) required annually for travel candidates
- Immunizations and screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable with attestation)
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification required for nursing degree (international education requires diploma/transcript)
- State-specific searches and registry checks as applicable (e.g., Washington state requirements)
- Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background)
- Float policy acknowledgement required (may be required to float to other nearby facilities)
Training & Modules
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules prior to start and annually thereafter, including:
- System-level regulatory modules
- Specialty-specific modules for Medical Surgical and related units
- Epic training modules as required
- Trauma-informed care modules (effective for new and extended placements starting 12/22/25)
- Modules assigned based on region, specialty, and facility requirements
