Position Summary:
The Occupational Therapist I/II or Advanced Occupational Therapist I/II provides quality occupational therapy services to a predominantly Native American population. The role focuses on rehabilitation for patients with developmental, cognitive, emotional, mental, and physical disabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluating patients (newborn to geriatric)
- Developing and implementing treatment plans
- Documenting in Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Monitoring patient progress and adjusting therapy plans
- Promoting independence through customized therapy programs
- Supporting specialty clinics and rehabilitation services
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Perform evaluations, treatment planning, and therapy interventions
- Provide inpatient and outpatient care
- Consult with physicians and healthcare teams
- Deliver specialty services:
- Custom orthoses
- Sensory integration
- Cognitive therapy
- Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
- Participate in specialty clinics:
- Spinal Cord Clinic
- Functional Clinic
- Geriatric Clinic
- Assistive Technology & Equipment Evaluation
- Ensure accurate EHR documentation
- Follow PPE and infection control protocols
- Participate in research and quality improvement
- Perform additional assigned duties
Education & Training Responsibilities:
- Maintain licensure and continuing education
- Conduct staff training and in-services
- Educate patients and families on care plans
- Support student and staff development
Performance Improvement:
- Identify and report departmental issues
- Recommend improvements for patient safety and workflow
- Participate in committees and professional development
- Stay updated with occupational therapy practices
Necessary Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy.
- Must be from an ACOTE-accredited program
Licensure
- Valid, unrestricted Occupational Therapy license (U.S. or eligible for Arizona licensure)
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
Credentialing
- Must meet Medical Staff credentialing requirements
