Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Medical/Surgical Telemetry
• Shift: Rotating Day/Night 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM / 7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week (3x12-hour shifts)
• Must work at least every other holiday
• Shifts may be rotated as needed to meet operational needs

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• Current certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Orientation & Competency

• Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) required at orientation with minimum passing scores (SafeMedicate 90%, ECG 80%)
• Prep materials provided before orientation
• Orientation includes completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start
• Must complete government-issued photo ID and background checks prior to assignment
• Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) required within 12 months and updated annually; must be completed prior to start
• Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to safely perform job functions
• Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually
• Immunization and health requirements include:

  • Tdap every 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history positive
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Annual flu vaccination (declinations not accepted without approved exemption)
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually

Documentation & Compliance

• Two professional references required from recent employment within one year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty
• Background checks include FCRA-compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks, and education verification
• Must complete facility-specific onboarding modules on a computer using Google Chrome before clearance to start
• Candidates with gaps longer than 6 months since last assignment at this facility may need to repeat orientation and competency testing

Additional Notes

• Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked
• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment
• Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility health and safety protocols, including latex allergy notification if applicable

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts, and able to meet comprehensive health, certification, and compliance requirements.
