Senior Medical Technologist (10k sign-on)

Work Schedule: M-F, 3p-11:30p, rotating weekends

Job Responsibilities

Overview

We are hiring a Senior Medical Technologist (2nd Shift) to serve as a lead resource within the blood bank. This role bridges the gap between staff and leadership, stepping in as the operational lead when the supervisor is not present.

Schedule

• 2nd Shift, including some weekend coverage as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Act as shift lead in absence of supervisor
• Provide guidance and support to MT/MLT staff
• Handle complex technical cases and troubleshooting
• Assist with workflow coordination and staffing prioritization
• Support onboarding and training of new staff
• Contribute to SOP development and updates
• Maintain high standards of quality and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field
• MT (ASCP) certification required
• Minimum 5+ years of blood bank experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor peers

Preferred Experience

• Writing or revising SOPs
• Managing complex transfusion scenarios
• Experience in high-acuity settings (e.g., oncology, transplant, trauma)

Ideal Candidate

• Strong communicator and problem solver
• Comfortable making decisions in supervisor’s absence
• Balances technical expertise with team support (no HR responsibilities)
