Registered Nurse (RN) – Flex Pool (Days)

Position Overview

We are seeking a flexible and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dynamic float pool team. This role requires adaptability and strong clinical skills, as the RN will provide care across multiple medical and surgical units, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across various medical and surgical units
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patient conditions
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and deliver patient care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system
• Respond effectively to changes in patient status and emergencies

Unit Coverage

• Medical Unit
• Surgical/Acute Unit
• Cardiovascular Unit (occasional coverage)

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Scheduled for 36 hours per week after orientation
• Flexibility required; hours are not guaranteed

Patient Ratios

• Medical Unit: 1:6 (days/evenings), 1:8 (nights)
• Surgical/Acute Unit: 1:6
• Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4
  Ratios may vary based on patient acuity and staffing needs

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure required prior to start)
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in acute care settings
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred)

Preferred Certifications

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
• Procedural Sedation certification

Skills & Experience

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Experience in Med-Surg and/or Step-Down units
• Ability to adapt quickly to different unit workflows and patient populations
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities

Equipment & Systems

• Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., Meditech or similar systems)
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication systems
• Experience managing wound vacs and chest tubes

Orientation & Training

• Unit-specific orientation provided for each assigned department

Additional Requirements

• Must obtain required state licensure prior to assignment start
• Must comply with all health and immunization requirements (medical/religious exemptions not accepted in place of proof)
• Must be available prior to start date for pre-employment health clearance

Dress Code

• Professional nursing attire (clean scrubs)
