Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Flex Pool team for night shifts. This role requires the ability to float between multiple medical and surgical units, delivering high-quality patient care in a dynamic acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across medical and surgical units
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and monitor clinical conditions
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record system
• Respond promptly to changes in patient status and emergency situations

Unit Coverage

• Medical Unit
• Surgical/Acute Unit
• Cardiovascular Unit (occasional coverage)

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
• Scheduled 36 hours per week following orientation
• Flexibility required; hours are not guaranteed

Patient Ratios

• Medical Unit: 1:6 (days/evenings), 1:8 (nights)
• Surgical/Acute Unit: 1:6
• Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4
  Ratios may vary depending on patient acuity and staffing needs

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure required prior to start)
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred)

Preferred Certifications

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
• Procedural Sedation certification

Skills & Experience

• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
• Experience in Med-Surg and/or Step-Down units
• Ability to adapt quickly to different units and patient populations
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Equipment & Systems

• Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., Meditech or similar systems)
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Experience managing wound vacs and chest tubes

Orientation & Training

• Unit-specific orientation provided for each assigned department

Additional Requirements

• Must obtain required state licensure prior to assignment start
• Must comply with all health and immunization requirements (medical/religious exemptions not accepted in place of documentation)
• Must be available prior to start for pre-employment health clearance

Dress Code

• Professional nursing attire (clean scrubs)
