Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Flex Pool assignment providing care across various medical and surgical units during night shifts. The RN will float between departments as needed to support patient care in acute and progressive care environments. This role requires adaptability, strong clinical assessment skills, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in medical, surgical, and step-down units
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Utilize specialized equipment including wound vacs and chest tubes
- Maintain accurate documentation using electronic medical record systems
- Float between assigned units based on operational needs
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts (1845 – 0715)
- Scheduled 36 hours per week following orientation
- Holiday coverage required
- Hours not guaranteed
Required Qualifications
- Active Hawaii RN license required by assignment start date
- Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience in Med-Surg and/or Step-Down settings
- Current BLS certification
- ACLS certification preferred

- PALS
- Procedural Sedation
- TNCC
- ENPC
Clinical Experience & Skills
- Acute care nursing experience
- Step-down/progressive care experience
- Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills
- Experience with:
- Wound vacs
- Chest tubes
- Pyxis medication systems
- Electronic charting systems
Floating Requirements
May float to:
- Medical Unit
- Surgical Acute Unit
- Cardiovascular Unit
Nurse-to-Patient Ratios
- Medical Unit:
- Days/Evenings: 1:6
- Nights: 1:8
- Surgical Acute Unit: 1:6
- Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4
Ratios may vary depending on census and staffing needs.

Unit-specific orientation and training provided for each assigned department.

Professional nursing attire and clean scrubs required.

- Travelers must arrive prior to assignment start to complete employee health requirements and onboarding
- Documented proof of immunity required; medical or religious exemptions will not be accepted in lieu of documentation
