Position Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU/Telemetry
Facility: Summa Health – Barberton Campus
Location: 4 South (4S), Barberton, Ohio
Department: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry
Contract Dates: 06/14/2026 – 09/12/2026
Shift: Night Shift – 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Experience Required: Minimum 2 Years
On-Call Requirement: No

Position Summary

The PCU/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care to adult patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and progressive care services. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, ensuring safe and effective treatment in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent telemetry interpretation skills, and the ability to manage patients with complex medical needs.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a PCU/Telemetry setting
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry data
• Assess patient condition and respond appropriately to changes in status
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection control procedures
• Participate in rapid response and emergency situations as needed

Patient Population

The RN may care for patients with:

• Cardiac conditions requiring telemetry monitoring
• Congestive heart failure (CHF)
• Arrhythmias
• Respiratory disorders
• Post-operative recovery needs
• Sepsis and other acute medical conditions
• Complex chronic illnesses requiring progressive care monitoring

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio or compact state license
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/Telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Current ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Strong telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation skills
• Experience with EMR systems preferred
