Schedule: 4x10 Days | 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours: 40 Hours/Week

Weekly Gross: $2,466
Weekly Taxable: $1,220
Weekly Stipend: $1,246

Job Details:
Carle Health is looking for an experienced Certified Surgical Assistant / First Assist for the OR department. Candidate will function as an integral part of the perioperative team assisting surgeons during procedures and supporting overall OR operations. Strong orthopedic surgery experience preferred. Trauma Level 1 experience highly preferred.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology
• CSA (Certified Surgical Assistant) REQUIRED
• CST through NBSTSA required
• BLS through AHA required
• Certified First Assist experience required
• trauma Level 1 experience preferred
• Strong OR and surgical assisting background required
• Experience assisting during orthopedic surgeries preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons during surgical procedures
• Perform first assist duties including retracting, suctioning, tying, camera holding, and closure techniques
• Knowledge of closure of all skin layers
• Maintain sterile field using aseptic techniques
• Perform scrubbing duties as needed
• Assist with patient positioning and OR setup
• Support inventory, supplies, room turnover, and equipment coordination
• Collaborate with surgeons and OR team for procedure readiness
• Participate in infection control and quality improvement activities
