Description
Job Title: Labor & Delivery Clinical Supervisor (RN)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Supervisor for a Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing clinical nursing operations, ensuring high-quality maternal and neonatal care, and supporting staff in a fast-paced obstetric environment. The ideal candidate must have prior supervisory experience in an L&D setting and strong clinical expertise in maternal-fetal nursing.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff within the Labor & Delivery unit
- Ensure safe, high-quality care for laboring mothers and newborns
- Oversee patient flow, staffing assignments, and clinical operations during shifts
- Provide clinical leadership and support in high-risk obstetric situations
- Respond to emergencies including maternal and neonatal complications
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and best practices
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams
- Monitor documentation accuracy and ensure proper use of Cerner EHR system
- Mentor and guide nursing staff, supporting professional development
Work Schedule
- 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
- Rotating day and night shifts (AM/PM rotation)
- On-call coverage required
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state/district
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience
- Prior nursing supervisory experience (required)
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record (EHR) system
- Current certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification
Additional Requirements
- Must live within 50 miles of the facility
- Must have demonstrated leadership in a clinical nursing environment
- Ability to manage high-acuity obstetric emergencies independently
