PACU RN – Travel Assignment | La Plata, MD
Shift: 4x10 Days (8:00 AM – 6:30 PM) | 40 Hours/Week
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: 06/08/2026

Position Details:
Seeking an experienced PACU RN for adult and pediatric recovery care in Phase I and Phase II PACU. Unit handles post-op recovery for general surgery, orthopedics, GYN, vascular, ENT, podiatry, urology, and limited pediatric cases including dental, tonsillectomy, T&A, and PE tubes. RN will work closely with anesthesia providers.

Schedule:

• Primary schedule: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• One rotating late shift weekly: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Weekend requirement is on-call only

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with strong PACU background
• ICU experience preferred
• Active Maryland RN license or Compact license required at submission
• Required Certifications:
  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • PALS (AHA)
  • NIHSS
  • CPI

Clinical Experience Required:

• Phase I & II PACU recovery
• Adult and pediatric patient care
• Conscious sedation and airway management
• Post-op recovery for general, ortho, ENT, GYN, vascular, and urology procedures
• Ventilator care, dysrhythmia management, emergency medications, and IV management
• Pediatric PACU recovery experience required

Facility Details:

• Average daily census: 15 patients
• EMR: Epic preferred
• Floating may be required to pre-op or related specialty areas
• ICU patients generally recover in ICU unless bed availability requires temporary PACU recovery

On-Call Requirements:

• 1 weekday on-call shift per week
• 1 weekend (Sat/Sun) on-call shift every 4 weeks
• Weekend call includes 24-hour call coverage
• Weekday schedule adjusted to accommodate call shifts

Additional Notes:

• Travelers must be flexible with floating and scheduling
• Maximum 7 days RTO permitted
• One major holiday request typically allowed
• Auto-offer facility; no interview required
• Travelers are first to float
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• COVID vaccine not required
• Orientation: 24 hours

Facility prefers candidates with:

• Epic experience
• Community hospital background
• Previous charge RN experience
• Strong PACU and critical care skills
