Job Title: Director of Nursing
Unit: Emergency Department
Location: Brooklyn, NY 11206
Shift: 10:00 AM-6:00 PM
Shift Length: 7 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 35 hours per week
Duration: 13 weeks
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – Emergency Department with recent acute care hospital experience to provide clinical and operational leadership within the ER setting. The ADON will oversee daily department operations, support nursing staff, ensure high-quality patient care, and maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. Candidates must possess strong leadership, communication, and emergency nursing expertise with the ability to manage fast-paced clinical environments effectively. A minimum of seven (7) years of nursing experience is required, including five (5) years in a supervisory role. Applicants must hold an active State RN license along with current BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the Emergency Department to ensure efficient workflow, quality patient care, and regulatory compliance
- Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff while assisting with staffing, scheduling, and performance management
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes, patient safety, and departmental performance
- Monitor clinical practices, implement policies and procedures, and ensure adherence to hospital and emergency care standards
Assist in staff education, competency development, quality improvement initiatives, and emergency preparedness activities
Skills:
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills in an acute care Emergency Department setting
- Extensive knowledge of emergency nursing practices, patient safety standards, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication, team management, and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities
- Experience in staff development, performance management, and quality improvement initiatives
- Strong critical thinking, emergency response, and operational management skills in high-pressure environments
Documents Required:
- Valid NY State RN license
- A minimum of seven (7) years of nursing experience is required, including five (5) years in a supervisory role.
