Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) | Evenings | Acute Care Hospital
Shift: Evenings | 12-hour shifts | 1:00 PM – 1:00 AM
Schedule: Every other weekend | Every other holiday
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) for a high-volume, fast-paced Level ED setting. This role involves caring for a wide range of patients from pediatric to geriatric populations in a high-acuity emergency environment with trauma exposure.
Unit Highlights
- Annual volume: ~180–200 visits per day
- Patient ratio: 1:4
- Behavioral health locked unit (6-bed psych/seclusion area)
- Level II/III trauma exposure (some trauma held, some transferred)
- Dedicated safety sitters available
- Central monitoring tech support available
- 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy coverage
- Charge nurse on every shift
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency care across all acuity levels
- Manage trauma, neuro, ortho, and medical emergencies
- Support stabilization and admission/transfer workflows
- Perform IV starts and clinical interventions independently
- Work collaboratively with physicians, APPs, RT, and support staff
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years RN experience required
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
- Active RN license (must match 75-mile radius rule compliance)
- Required Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- TNCC
- ASLS or NIHSS
- CPI
- Strong ED experience required
- Meditech 6.15 experience required
Schedule & Staffing
- 12-hour evening shifts (1p–1a)
- Multiple provider coverage across all hours
- APP and MD coverage 24/7
- Central lab, pharmacy, and RT support available
- Nurses perform own IV starts and lab draws
Facility Notes
- Level trauma emergency department
- High patient volume and fast turnover environment
- Caribbean Blue scrubs required
- Auto meal break deductions apply
- Orientation must be completed in Week 1 (no rollover without approval)
Compliance & Important Notes
- 75-mile radius restriction applies (must verify address in submission)
- Must provide valid driver’s license address with submission
- No delays in orientation completion allowed
- Strict call-out process enforcement
- RTO and scheduling adherence strictly monitored
