Travel Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psych RN) – Emergency Psychiatry

Location: Rochester, NY
Department: Psychiatric Emergency Services (Psych ER)
Shift: Rotating Days / Evenings / Nights

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and provide nursing care for patients presenting with psychiatric emergencies and behavioral health concerns.
• Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and ongoing patient evaluations.
• Implement individualized care plans and therapeutic interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Monitor patient safety, behavioral status, and risk factors, including suicide precautions and crisis situations.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, emergency physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and behavioral management strategies.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
• Previous Psychiatric Nursing experience required.
• Experience working in Emergency Psychiatry, Behavioral Health, Psychiatric Emergency Services, or acute inpatient psychiatry preferred.
• Strong crisis intervention and patient assessment skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
