Description

North Country Hospital is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to provide care across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Baby Unit, and Nursery services. This position requires a highly adaptable nurse who is comfortable working in a Critical Access Hospital environment and floating to support other patient care areas when needed.

Located in Vermont's scenic Northeast Kingdom, this assignment offers a unique opportunity to combine meaningful patient care with an exceptional outdoor lifestyle.

Assignment Details

Start Date: August 3, 2026
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights
Positions: 1
Holiday Coverage: Required
Floating: Required

Core Responsibilities

Care for laboring mothers throughout the delivery process
Provide postpartum recovery and maternal education
Deliver newborn and nursery care
Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing
Assist with newborn stabilization and routine newborn assessments
Support patients across multiple departments based on census and staffing needs
Float to other units and assist with overflow from the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Unit Coverage

This role may provide care in:

Labor & Delivery
Postpartum
Baby Unit
Nursery
Perioperative support (as applicable)
Overflow patient care from PCU

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of Labor & Delivery experience
Strong experience with:
- Labor & Delivery
- Postpartum Care
- Nursery/Newborn Care
Comfortable working independently in a Critical Access Hospital environment
Flexibility to float based on patient care needs

License Requirement

Vermont RN License required by start date
License may be obtained upon acceptance
