Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry Unit) - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Available to work every other holiday, if needed
Locals: RNs within 75 miles are not accepted

Job Description

• Work on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with patient ratios ranging from 1:5 to 1:7
• Must have worked in acute care within the past 6 months
• Floating within skillset required
• Charting experience with EPIC required
• Scrub color: any combination of navy blue and white
• Call-off policy allows up to three canceled shifts during the contract without penalty
• Scheduling requests must be submitted at time of application
• First-time travelers are accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience in an acute care setting
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and Rapid Response/Code team activation
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse (defaulting to the higher requirement)
• Prior travel experience is not required

Health and Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete the following health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of contract signing:

• Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
• Fit mask test (annual)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year) or TB questionnaire in lieu of annual renewal
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
• Snellen eye exam (within 1 year)
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background and Verification

• 7-year criminal background check (including felony, SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification) required within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly
• Education verification from primary source required (not applicable for CNA)
• Employment verification of at least two past employments required
• References required for travel agency compliance (2 references within 3 years)
• State-specific checks including sex offender registry and Medicaid exclusion list required within 30 days of start and monthly thereafter

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge and parking pass form required
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing as required by specialty
• Color blindness testing required once

• The unit assignment (MS/Telemetry) will be confirmed at time of offer
• Candidates must be prepared to float within their skillset
• Locals accepted only for LPNs; RNs must be outside a 75-mile radius
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
