Description
Nuclear Medicine Technologist (General Imaging)
Job Type
- Contractor
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Location
- Position involves working in both hospital and clinic settings within the same building
- Floating between clinic and hospital areas, spending about 1 month in each location
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Day shift: Monday – Friday, typically 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- On-call requirements:
- One weeknight call shift per week (4:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- One weekend call per month (Friday evening to Monday morning)
- 30-minute response time when on call
- May be on call for up to 50% of holidays during the contract
- Weekend rotation is call only
- Approval for up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO)
Unit and Patient Information
- Unit has 2 suites (1 hospital, 1 clinic)
- Average patient load: 4-6 patients per technologist per day
- Patient types: Outpatient, inpatient, and emergency department
- Common procedures: Cardiac scans, stress/rest tests, HIDA scans, renal scans, gastric studies, DAT scans, lung perfusions (VQ scans), GI bleeds, administration of I-131
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Nuclear Medicine experience
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)
- Licenses and certifications:
- Current state Nuclear Medicine license
- ARRT-N (Nuclear Medicine) or NMTCB certification
- BLS certification
Skills and Experience
- Proficient in performing the listed nuclear medicine scans and handling radioactive isotopes safely
- Preferred experience with Pluvicto therapies for prostate cancer and Y90 mapping
- Ability to consult manager if unfamiliar with specific procedures
Orientation and Support
- New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus department-specific orientation during the first week
- Support team includes:
- One other Nuclear Medicine Technologist (one in clinic, one in hospital)
- Imaging assistant/transport in hospital
- Patient service representatives for check-in
- Scheduler for case management
- Manager available weekdays
- Rapid response/code team
- Cardiologist (clinic) and radiologist for image reading
Technology and Equipment
- EMR system: EPIC
- PACS system: Change Healthcare
- Clinic equipment: Spectrum Dynamics D-Spect chair
- Hospital equipment: GE Discovery 850
