Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Level 3 Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER) to provide comprehensive patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, exceptional critical thinking abilities, and experience managing patients with acute illnesses, traumatic injuries, and life-threatening conditions.

The ER RN will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and evidence-based practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for emergency department patients.
  • Perform rapid triage assessments and prioritize care based on patient acuity.
  • Monitor and document patient conditions, vital signs, treatments, and responses to interventions.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments according to physician orders.
  • Assist with trauma cases, cardiac emergencies, respiratory distress, stroke protocols, and other critical situations.
  • Operate and monitor emergency medical equipment, including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, and ventilators.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, patient safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and code response activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience.
  • Strong experience in trauma, critical care, and emergency patient management.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred or required per facility policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) credential.
  • Previous travel nursing or Level I/II trauma center experience.
  • Experience with EMR systems and emergency department workflows.
