Description

Job Title: RN – Wound Care

Location: New York, NY

Duration: 13 Weeks

Description:

  • Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence-related care.
  • Perform focused physical assessments and develop individualized plans of care based on patient diagnoses and needs.
  • Recommend appropriate medications, treatments, and interventions for wound management.
  • Assess, monitor, and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments.
  • Develop, revise, and evaluate wound care standards, and assist in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and make referrals to other disciplines as needed.
  • Educate, counsel, and support patients and families in preventing complications related to wounds, ostomies, and continence issues.
  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate staff education programs, including orientation, in-services, and continuing education.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for pressure injuries and implement preventive measures.
  • Escalate and communicate clinical challenges, ethical concerns, and conflict resolution issues as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Nursing for Wound Care to recommend and implement best practices.
  • Participate in departmental and hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives, including incidence and prevalence studies.
  • Provide culturally competent education to patients, families, and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competency.
  • Identify and coordinate community resources to support patient care and recovery.
  • Manage wound care-related assets and equipment, including specialty beds and negative pressure wound therapy devices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years of Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience.
  • Wound care and colostomy experience.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills.

Required Education:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited Nursing Program.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Primary Source Verification of License and Registration of Registered Professional Nurse through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current certification in at least one of the following:
    • Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) – WOCNCB
    • Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) – WOCNCB
    • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) – WOCNCB
    • Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) – ABWM
    • Wound Care Certified (WCC) – NAWCO
