Description
– Med-Surg/Telemetry RN
Schedule
12-hour shifts (Days or Nights per unit need)
Weekend rotation required
No call or standby requirement
Unit Snapshot
18-bed Med-Surg/Telemetry overflow unit
Patient ratio: 1:4–5
Charge RN and CNA support (1:9 CNA ratio)
Common Patient Population
- CHF, COPD, HTN, diabetes, UTI
- Non-critical sepsis and isolation patients
- Post-op general surgery patients
- Palliative/end-of-life and placement-awaiting patients
Key Skills & Responsibilities
- Med-Surg patient assessment and care planning
- Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Management of Heparin and Cardizem drips (limited titration)
- CPAP/BiPAP patient support
- Documentation, patient education, and interdisciplinary coordination
- Floating to other units as needed
Requirements
- WA RN license or Compact license
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year acute care RN experience
- Comfort with telemetry and basic drip management
Unit Highlights
- 2-shift unit orientation
- No specific scrub color requirement
- Supportive staffing model with telemetry techs and CNAs
- Manager phone interview required
Best fit: Med-Surg/Telemetry RN with at least 1 year of acute care experience who is comfortable with telemetry monitoring, basic drip titration, and caring for a mixed medical/post-surgical population in a moderate-acuity overflow unit.
