Job Title: ECMO Specialist – Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT) – Night Shift
Location: Greenville, SC | Prisma Health – 701 Grove Rd, Greenville, SC 29605
Shift: Night | 3x12-Hour (19:00 – 07:30)
Duration: 13 weeks
Patient Population: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
Job Overview:
Prisma Health is seeking an experienced ECMO Specialist (RRT) to join our Mechanical Circulatory Support team in the CVICU and PICU. This role provides direct ECMO device management for critically ill patients post-cardiac surgery, cardiogenic shock, trauma, ARDS, and other acute illnesses requiring ECMO support. The ideal candidate has hands-on ECMO experience and is licensed as an RRT with critical care expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Manage ECMO devices during bedside cannulation and cannula repositioning procedures.
- Provide care for patients on ECMO, Impella, and IABP devices.
- Collaborate with ICU RNs, RTs, and interdisciplinary teams following ECMO protocols.
- Float between CVICU and PICU units as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC EMR.
- Participate in post-cardiac surgery, pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, and trauma patient care.
Required Qualifications:
- Current RRT license in SC
- ECMO Specialist experience required
- Minimum 3 years ICU experience (adult, pediatric, or multi-specialty)
- Trauma Level I and II experience required
- EPIC EMR experience – 1+ year preferred
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
- Skills: Arterial line management, IV therapy, central line care, blood product administration
- Experience with: ECMO circuit priming and changes, high flow nasal cannula, ventilator management, suctioning, interpretation of ABGs, pulmonary edema and embolism management
Preferred Experience:
- Previous charge experience
- Teaching hospital, LTAC, or community hospital experience
- Post-cardiac surgery care (direct from OR)
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including dysrhythmia management
Equipment You’ll Work With:
- Cardiohelp ECMO console
- Centrimag ECMO console
- Cardio Quip heater-cooler unit
- Glucometer (point-of-care testing)
Schedule & Staffing:
- Nights 3x12 hours (19:00 – 07:30)
- Weekend coverage: every other weekend (6 shifts per contract)
- Patient ratios: 1:2
- Float between CVICU and PICU units
