Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Travel)
Facility: Lee Health – HealthPark Medical Center
Location: 9981 S HealthPark Dr, Fort Myers, FL 33908
Contract Type: Travel (Nursing)
On-Call: Required – 12 Hours per 6-Week Scheduling Period
Specialty: Labor & Delivery
Candidate Type: Travel Only
Location Restriction: Must reside outside 50 miles of the facility
Job Summary
The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients and their newborns in a high-acuity obstetrical environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing complex labor and delivery cases, interpreting fetal monitoring, and responding to maternal and neonatal emergencies.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required
Prior travel nursing experience required
Active RN license required
BLS required
ACLS required
NRP required
AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course completed and passed required
Epic EMR experience required
Degree accreditation verification required or minimum 5 years of nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications
AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification preferred
Experience caring for high-acuity obstetric patients
Strong critical thinking and emergency response skills
Unit Details
19-Bed Labor & Delivery Unit
Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 to 2:1
High-acuity maternal and fetal patient population
Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and immediate postpartum periods
Perform maternal and fetal assessments and monitor labor progression
Interpret and respond appropriately to fetal monitoring tracings
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospital protocols
Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and obstetric emergencies
Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and multidisciplinary teams
Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, and postpartum care
Document patient care accurately within Epic EMR
Maintain compliance with hospital, regulatory, and patient safety standards
Call Requirements
12 hours of call required during each 6-week scheduling period

Floating required; travelers are first to float and may be assigned to sister campuses as needed
All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application; no post-submission RTO approvals

Strict document deadline: Monday prior to start date; no exceptions for pending documents
