Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in North Carolina

Location: Reidsville, NC
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Position: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry unit)
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Work Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours each)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Social Security Card (required for badge issuance).
  • Background check within 60 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
    • Social Security Trace with all aliases.
    • County, statewide, national criminal, federal court, sex offender, and FACIS Level 3 searches.
    • Education verification by a third party (no pending EDVs at start for RN).
    • Foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained outside the U.S. (30 days allowed post-start for official results).
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history.
  • Verification of all employment within last 5 years through a third party.
  • Two supervisory references required from clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months).
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal.
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, methadone, cocaine, PCP, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, oxycodone, propoxyphene).
  • Immunizations and health documents:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof required.
    • Negative TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months of start or chest X-ray if positive history.
    • TB Questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually.
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required.
    • Hepatitis B: Titer or declination required.
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required.
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
  • Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually (exceptions apply for some specialties).
  • Fingerprinting requirements:
    • North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) fingerprint results required for Home Health and Long-Term Care only.
    • Fingerprints must be completed in North Carolina.
  • Facility-specific photo for badge (strict requirements: no selfies, no cropping, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing).
  • Facility-specific documents including health history form, affiliate packet, dress code, floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgement, and job description must be reviewed and signed.

Competencies & Testing

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% passing score).
  • Color Blind Testing (online, minimum 90% passing score; not required for non-clinical).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for all RNs except Behavioral Health or Case Managers.
  • EPIC test required for RNs and Allied candidates (2 attempts allowed, 80% passing score).

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete Workday login and onboarding tasks prior to arrival.
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements.
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required.
  • Contract extension notice: "EXTENSION - DO NOT SUBMIT" (indicates this is an extension of an existing contract).
